If there’s anything to know about my preferences when it comes to booze, it’s that my choice will almost always be whisky. Neat, on the rocks (with an orange, if we’re being specific), in a cocktail—I’ll take it! Now, for those of you who aren’t aware, this Sunday, July 23rd is National Vanilla Ice Cream Day. As with any holiday this tasty, I’m not going to NOT celebrate it. And what better way to do so than by combining it with another favorite? You guessed it: whisky.
Some of you might be wondering, “Wouldn’t mixing those two things together end up tasting like some kind of weird, old-timey medicine?” To be honest, probably. Fortunately, that’s not strictly what’s happening here; I’ll be using Crown Royal Vanilla. For those of you that haven’t tried this delicious creation, it’s basically whisky dessert. Joe and I included it as an option at a cocktail reception we threw for our wedding earlier this month and it was a HUGE hit. It mixes beautifully with just about anything sweet, so naturally it’s amazing with ice cream.
If you’re looking to celebrate National Vanilla Ice Cream Day with an adult twist this year too, I suggest you try The Very Vanilla Shake (created by Mixologist Brian Floyd). You can find the recipe below.
The Very Vanilla Shake
1.5oz Crown Royal Vanilla
2 scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream
3 dashes of Molé Bitters
That’s it!
The forecast for Sunday is currently showing about 80° and sunny. So, if you need me, I’ll be by the pool sipping on one of these guys <3
